B.C Psychiatrist Disciplined over Unethical Conduct

From the Vancouver Sun

A B.C. psychiatrist has been erased from the medical register after hiring two former patients as employees.

The B.C. College of Physicians and Surgeons said Dr. Anca Ioana Bostinariu admitted that given the nature of the pyschotherapeutic relationship she was guilty of unprofessional conduct by hiring the pair. [...]

She's been transferred to the temporary register and issued a formal reprimand under section 60(3) of the Medical Practitioners Act.

She has also been ordered to participate in assessments and counselling and in professional development in the area of boundaries and ethics.

The college has also stipulated that Bostinariu be involved with a mentorship program with a physician approved by the registrar, and be monitored by the college to ensure her future professional conduct is "above reproach."
